“I don’t care,” Amira said softly, shaking her head. Her eyes darted over Silas’s face, brows furrowing as she looked at him almost pleadingly. “You think people haven’t told me that already? Told me what a mistake I’m making?” she asked, letting out a huff of breath, turning away from him for a moment. Amira pressed her lips together, swallowing thickly. “I know what I’m getting into, Silas,” she started quietly, turning slowly to face him. “But there’s something about you, that I don’t think even you can see. You-” she paused, taking a breath. “You’re special, Silas. You deserve more than you think you do.” Amira took a step closer to the boy, reaching out hesitantly to brush his curls from his eyes. “And… I think I’m falling in love with you. So I guess that makes me insane, too, huh?”
