tbh in rp i think the community has a problem with discerning the difference between writing a triggering topic and glamorizing it. you can write a character who is a murderer, there are tons of wonderfully written books about killers, but that’s okay as long as you never make it seem like it’s a good thing. you can write about an abusive relationship but you should not portray it as anything positive, good, or healthy. you can write a character that is sexist or homophobic, etc., but you should convey through your writing that these opinions are not okay (you can even use your writing to call attention to why these opinons are harmful). you can write a character with an eating disorder (or any mental disorder tbh), but you should do your research and write it true-to-life. when you write, you don’t just write about the good things in life, writing can get gritty and it can touch sensitive topics - this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t write them, it just means that you should handle them maturely. there’s a difference. so don’t shame someone for what they roleplay, but don’t glamorize negative topics or allow anyone else to.
